                                            PLUROGEN AWARDED NIH GRANT


(Charlottesville, VA, 25 October 2009) – PluroGen Therapeutics, Inc. is pleased to announce it has been
awarded an NIH grant to study its PluroGel® and other materials for controlled aerosolized delivery of
stem cell therapies to heal wounds.  This Phase I STTR grant will specifically involve the design and
feasibility testing of a system for the delivery of cell therapies to open wounds.  PluroGen will subcontract
a portion of the work to the University of Virginia.

Neal G. Koller, President & CEO of PluroGen, in announcing the grant award said “PluroGen is excited to
explore this additional wound healing application of our core technology.  We continue to work to expand
