SUCCESSFUL MULTI-CENTER CLINICAL 180 PATIENT TRIAL RESULTS
PRESENTED AT THE EWMA CONGRESS IN HELSINKI FINLAND
(Charlottesville, VA, 29 June 2009) – PluroGen Therapeutics, Inc. is pleased to announce very positive
clinical results for our European partner’s PluroGel® based skin & wound cleansing medical device and
that these results were well received by the clinical audience at the European Wound Management
conference, the EWMA, in Helsinki last month.
Our European commercial partner for skin & wound cleansing medical devices, Welcare Industries,
sponsored the multi-center 180 patient clinical trial using their UCS™ enriched with PluroGel® skin &
wound cleansing device. The principal investigator, Roberto Cassino, MD, presented these results. Dr.
Cassino is a Vulnologist (critical wounds specialist) and Gerontologist (specialist in the care of the elderly)
in the Critical Wounds Unit of San Luca Clinic (Turin, Italy). He is a past trustee of AIUC (the Skin Ulcers
Association of Italy) and a frequent panellist and presenter for the EWMA (European Wound Management
Association) and EPUAP (European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel). Dr Cassino is Scientific Director of the
Vulnera School of Vulnology, Professor in the Masters Program in Vulnology at the University of Turin, and
Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Wound Journal.
The “Opening” and “Results” slides from Dr. Cassino’s presentation are below, identifying the terrific
clinical results achieved with the PluroGel® based UCS™. Following Dr. Cassino’s presentation, Welcare’s
exhibit booth was visited by many doctors, nurses and distributors (not to mention competition) stopping
by for information.
Commenting on the clinical success and Dr. Cassino’s presentation, Neal G. Koller, President & CEO of
